SINGER
ISRAEL 'IZ' KAMAKAWIWO'OLE

This song by "Iz," the singer, is intertwined in my head in a very positive way with grieving.
One needs to put a positive
spin on all things in life and
he does that for me.
I hope he does it for you. I urge you to let it happen
This  post is Titled
"GETTING ALL YOUR DUCKS IN ORDER"

Just another way of saying "Life & Estate Planning,"when you decide you want to organize your life. Sure, anybody can go out (or die) in a mess without leaving mention of what you want to happen to your property but how much nicer for your loved ones to have a piece of paper or Will stating your wishes for your property. Your exit can be as faultless as your entrance into this world! Having lived you are now responsible for many loved ones, be they your own children or others, a spouse or other family members or friends. That’s when you need to get “those ducks in order!”

LIFE & ESTATE PLANNING with Wayne L. Bernakevitch and his partner, Darren Carlson, was held at the Moose Mountain Church of Christ followed by a soup and sandwich lunch Saturday, January 28, 2012. There were about a dozen people there for the day. It tends to be a subject many people think, “Oh, I’ll think about that tomorrow.” Then ‘tomorrow never comes!’ In fact some morning the sun rises and you don’t. Too late!

At present only about 40% of people make Wills. If there is no Will there are guidelines by the courts which may not be what you would prefer for your family and estate.

A Will just explains exactly what you want done with anything that is yours. It will ensure that your loved ones will receive what you want them to receive. If there is no Will it is more complicated. It can be a comforting thought to have a Will in place for everybody.

There were some points mentioned for people making Wills: Life Insurance can be placed into your Will by naming your Estate as a beneficiary. Then the control is in your Estate. Having a person or persons named as administrators of your estate (Executor - male or Executrix -female) in your Will helps them do your bidding without you as though you were there. They should be competent and honest. You can name two or three family members and then because of distance or other considerations all may sign off to let one do the work of the Will. It was suggested that 3% of the Estate could be given as a donation to your favorite charity and the balance or 97% given to family members.

There were many handouts given at the presentation and private half hour consultations were given in the afternoon time permitting. It was a very worthwhile presentation. The law firm is McDougall Gauley with offices in Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw and Estevan. They or any law firm can help you get “your ducks in order!”

A penalty! Wawota’s #10 Mike Bratton for a two minute penalty of hooking.

Fighting broke out about 15:32 in the first period. #19 Cam Jarvis (Carlyle) and #14 Rob West (Wawota) exchanging blows for a 5 minute roughing penalty and game misconduct (this penalty means those involved are put out of the game - for the evening or next game. It means the team are without the help of the person with a misconduct)

Another penalty! Wawota’s # 7 Travis Declercq received a 4 min roughing penalty and a 10 minute misconduct. The time of penalty was 17:33.

Scott Sauter did a cleaning of the ice on the Zamboni and the second period began with 12 to 13 shots on goal

SECOND PERIOD

16 seconds into the second period there was an altercation between Carlyle’s #22 Nolan Balon and Wawota’s #22 Jeff Coulter resulting in a 2 minute penalty each.

One more person got 2 minutes for interference (the opposite of cooperation) at 18:41.

At the end of the second period a draw was made of the 50/50. The lucky winner was Bob Lamontagne and he donated part of the monies he’d won back to the Flyers Hockey Club. Nice touch!

THIRD PERIOD

Just 4:24 into the third period #10 Mike Bratton (Wawota) got a hooking penalty.

Penalties concluding the game were #16 Clayton Geiger (Carlyle) and #4 Sheldon Slykhuis(Wawota); Game misconducts at 8:28 of the third period.
Total Game Shots on goal were (Wawota) 25 to 30(Carlyle).  Roughness can cause the loss of some team members - better to have a STRONG team with ALL players instead of a weak team minus several good members on the bench or not able to play!

A GOOD DAY FOR BED!

It's THAT kind of a Day!

Chatting with friends found them to be still abed in the afternoon! Well! The temperature outside was bordering on grossly FREEZING! Can't think of a nicer, warmer place to be than bed! Perhaps one book shared, two books, TV or movie! Nice.

THE DEEPFREEZE MADE THINGS WORSE!

SURVIVIVAL TOUGHER IN THE WINTER
Our part of the country has been at a very cold setting. Wednesday, January 18 this South East part of Saskatchewan became a DEEPFREEZE with a temperature hovering around 20 to 40 degrees below zero on a  Celsius Thermometer with  the wind! Temperature staying there for this week! One good thing not many germs survive! Waterlines, especially cold water can go from cold to frozen and you are hooped for usual activities depending on where the water freezes. Tub baths, showers, dish washing, or washing machines all rely on water flowing.  Hair dryers on full blast can sometimes keep lines free of ice.Luckily waterlines are not frozen but sewer pump keeps kicking breaker off.  Sewer pump hooped but under warranty?. Only changed about six months ago! The car battery is something else. Glad of CAA. They were called and came within the hour, charged battery and started car. It ran and charged then time was spent in local Car Dealership Service Center. Unfortunately it didn't last as either the garage and I figured it would! It probably requires an overnight stay in car hospital!

Sunday Days in Winter

Sunday, January 15, 2012 Thoughts About Today
About half way through January which hasn't been too bad weatherwise but today it's going down into a refrigerator state! The high in some areas in the southeast is minus 23 degrees. That's cold.
Moose Mountain Church of Christ had one frazzled person arrive looking for a presentation by a friend who'd been to another country. That didn't happen! It's scheduled for next Sunday. What to do? Well, two Sundays with church is not that bad. Next Sunday. Alarm clock.
This Sunday there was a sermon with a presentation on truth by John McMillan. No trust without truth.
Here's a quote by Henry David Thoreau:
"The only way to speak the truth is to speak lovingly." Page 121, "Better Than Gold" Edited by Clinton T. Howell, Thomas Nelson Publishers

Hockey is a dandy sport for the whole family. A spectator sport for old and young especially exciting if you have a family member playing hockey. It was fun with sons playing hockey and I’ve seen grandparents with fond adoration watching their grandchildren.  It’s just fast action and more fun if you know the players. A neat place to meet community members too.

Young and Old at the Rink. Watch Hockey or Visit Friends

There were lots of families at the rink.  Young and old. There is something for everyone and if you don't care for hockey you can sit and knit -if that's your pleasure!
One little family were at the game Friday, January 6 from Dad and Mom- Jason and Amanda Green - to their family 9 year old Jordan, 6 year old Patrick, and 4 month old Jayda. The whole family were enjoying the hockey game in their new town. They moved to Wawota in May from Midale because of their trucking business and the oil economy in the area. Their trucking name, “T18 Trucking” business is named after a daughter no longer with them - Tanner.

Born with Trisomy 18 means she had a 3rd copy of the 18th chromosome. Regularly people are born with only two copies. It is similar to Down’s Syndrome. Tanner lived for four months. In their grief they took the name of what she was born with and their new trucking company became T18 Trucking. She will always be with them in spirit.

Wawota Hockey Arena in South East Saskatchewan

Hockey games encourage the community to come together and enjoy a good chin wag. They get to watch some great skating, scoring, while renewing friendships from last winter and meeting new folk in the neighbourhood. And the rink has good food under the deft hands of some of the best cooks in the community! The Rink Cafeteria has a great menu of fast food: fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, and more. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and soft drinks to wet any whistle can be had, “If you’ve the money, honey!”

On top of that there is a “…bar open upstairs in the rink throughout the game.” And the proceeds help the rink
